Why zero rivals is not zero

Most feeds carry no participant field at all. Printing that as 0 would make every unlisted event look like an empty room, so an absent count reads as not reported, and only a source that actually reports zero registrants gets a zero.

What the per-rival figure is

Declared prize divided by reported rivals plus one. It is a scanning device: it turns the whole index into a shortlist worth reading. It is not a probability, and nothing here claims a chance of winning.

When crowd velocity appears

Velocity is the difference between two observations of the same entry, measured across at least two hours. An entry seen once has no velocity, and the board says so instead of printing 0.0 a day.

Confirmed, approximate, missing

Prizes declared in USD are shown as given. Pools declared in another currency are converted, marked approximate everywhere they appear, and carry that mark into the figure they produce. Anything a feed does not supply is named as missing rather than guessed.

Why unmeasured entries stay on the board

An unlisted, unmeasured event is often exactly the asymmetric entry worth finding. The board keeps it visible and states what it does not know, rather than hiding it or dressing the gap up as a strong signal.
